![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Find out what pressure it has at cold start up and then operating temp at idle. I was the main rebuilder for them and i only replaced cam bearings in 11 units i ever remember and that was when i replaced the camshafts. I worked for a trucking company with approx,150 units with big cam 3 cummins. Mike, how much pressure is it dropping, hot at idle, i,ve seen them with 15pds of pressure. As a note the oil PSI at idle on these engines is normally under 20 warm. Oil testing isn't that expensive and can help out. What is the idle PSI? You said it drops 5-10 psi - is that from cold to hot or what? I think the first thing I would recommend would be a oil analysis to see if it is making any abnormal amounts of metal or bearing material. give me some ideas if ya have any thanks mike Hi i got a friend that is looking at a 75 kw it is supposed to have a big cam 3 in it with about 40k on inframe, guy says it is drivable but that it losses oil press when it warms up, now i havn't seen or heard this truck run so maybe it is droping 5-10# and the guy is worried about that or maybe it is actually a problem (he says it needs cam bearings ) how likely is that. ![]()
